Length and weight: choosing your proportions

Length describes where the hair reaches. Weight describes how much hair you are adding. They answer different questions, so choose them together.

Before comparing numbers, decide whether your priority is a longer silhouette, more fullness at your existing length, or a combination of both. Your natural density, haircut and fitting method will influence the specification that makes sense.

Picture the finished proportion

The same extension length can fall differently on different people. Height, neck and torso proportions, the attachment position and the amount removed during blending all affect the finished look.

Ask your stylist to show where the proposed length is likely to sit on you. A reference photograph is helpful, but it should explain the shape and balance you like rather than serve as a guaranteed measurement.

Account for the cut

Extensions usually need to work with your existing haircut. A blunt line, shorter layers or a particularly dense perimeter may require a different blending approach from softly layered hair.

The purchase length and the final wearable length are not necessarily identical once the hair has been shaped. Agree the intended finish with the professional who will fit and cut it before choosing your order specification.

Understand what the weight represents

A weight in grams tells you the quantity of hair, but it does not by itself tell you whether that quantity is right for your head or method. Check whether the stated amount applies to one bundle, a pack or the complete selection you are buying.

Adding more hair is not automatically the better choice. Your fitting professional should consider the support your own hair can provide, the distribution of the attachments and the balance between added length and density.

Bring these questions to the consultation

  • Am I adding length, fullness or both?
  • How much length will be shaped away during blending?
  • Which extension method will be used?
  • What quantity does the product’s listed weight represent?
  • Does the proposed amount suit my natural density and haircut?
  • Which maintenance and removal appointments will the method require?

Read the selected option carefully

For a variable product, review the exact length and weight selected before adding it to your bag. A price shown for one option should not be assumed to cover every possible combination.

If a required selection is unavailable, or no price is displayed for the combination you want, ask Solestré about the specification. Confirm the details before planning your fitting appointment.

Complete the brief with colour

Once the proportions are clear, compare the colour through the area where your natural hair and extensions will meet. A well-considered length can still look disconnected if the tone is wrong.
